During the 18th century, the neoclassical movement emerged as a reaction to the Baroque style, seeking inspiration from the forms and themes of classical Greek and Roman art. This movement, influencing various areas such as architecture, sculpture, and painting, reflected the aesthetic, moral, and political ideals of the time. In the neoclassical context, works of art were often used to exalt not only beauty and simplicity, but also values such as rationality and order, which were considered fundamental after the Baroque period. In 'The Story of Art,' Ernst Gombrich discusses how 'each style is a way of seeing reality,' highlighting the importance of historical and cultural context in the production and reception of works of art. Considering the interdisciplinary nature of the arts and the relevance of historical context in artistic creation, analyze a passage from a neoclassical poem and identify the linguistic and stylistic elements that evidence the influence of the neoclassical movement, as well as discuss how the use of these elements contributes to the expression of neoclassical ideals.
