Tujuan

Durasi: 10 to 15 minutes

The aim of this step is to ensure that learners grasp the concept of relative pronouns and how they function in a sentence, setting them up for success in future tasks. Additionally, the goal is to foster socioemotional skills, like self-awareness and social interaction, by enabling students to recognise their own emotions as well as those of their peers during the learning experience.

Tujuan Utama

1. Identify and understand relative pronouns in simple sentences.

2. Select the correct relative pronoun to accurately and coherently finish sentences.

Guided Meditation for Focus and Concentration

The selected emotional warm-up activity is Guided Meditation. This practice is intended to help improve focus, presence, and concentration among learners as they emotionally prepare for the lesson. Guided meditation involves giving verbal instructions to help students relax and concentrate on the moment, easing anxiety and promoting mindfulness.

1. Preparing the Environment: Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, ensuring their feet are flat on the ground and their hands are resting in their laps. Make sure the area is quiet and, if possible, dim the lights.

2. Beginning the Meditation: Explain to students that they will engage in a guided meditation to help with focus and concentration. Invite them to close their eyes and listen closely to your voice.

3. Deep Breathing: Instruct learners to breathe deeply in through their nose, hold that breath for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly through their mouth. Repeat this process three times.

4. Visualization: Encourage students to picture a calm and safe place where they feel happy and at ease. Suggest they picture this place in vivid detail, focusing on colours, sounds, and sensations.

5. Body Focus: Guide students to shift their focus to various parts of their body, starting from their feet and moving upwards to their head. Prompt them to relax each part as they concentrate.

6. Closing: After a few minutes, invite students to gently move their fingers and toes, bringing their awareness back to the classroom. Instruct them to open their eyes slowly when they feel prepared.

Kontekstualisasi Konten

Relative pronouns are vital for creating more polished and coherent sentences. Imagine you're storytelling about a friend you met while travelling. By using relative pronouns, you can connect ideas in a clearer and more engaging manner, as in 'The friend I met in Paris is a photographer.' Furthermore, properly understanding and using relative pronouns can improve communication in social contexts, allowing for the effective expression of thoughts and feelings. This skill not only bolsters language abilities but also enhances social skills, leading to clearer and more empathetic interactions.

Building Sentences with Relative Pronouns

Learners will pair up to create sentences using relative pronouns based on everyday situations provided by the teacher. Each pair will then present their sentences to the class, explaining their choice of pronouns and sentence structure.

1. Form pairs of students.

2. Hand out a list of everyday situations to each pair. Examples: 'A friend you met on a trip', 'The book you just read', etc.

3. Ask students to formulate sentences using relative pronouns based on these situations.

4. Allocate around 15 minutes for students to complete the activity.

5. Afterwards, each pair should present their sentences to the class.

6. During the presentations, students should clarify their choice of pronouns and the structure of their sentences.

Diskusi dan Umpan Balik Kelompok

Following the presentations, initiate a group discussion using the RULER method. Start by recognising and understanding students' feelings during the activity by asking how they felt while working in pairs and presenting their sentences. Then, encourage them to name their emotions using specific terms such as 'anxious', 'confident', 'nervous', etc.

Prompt students to express their emotions appropriately, discussing how these feelings can affect their social and communication skills. Finally, explore strategies to regulate these emotions, such as deep breathing, mindfulness techniques, and relaxation methods. This will assist students in developing self-control and making responsible choices in future situations.

Kesimpulan

Durasi: 15 to 20 minutes

Refleksi dan Regulasi Emosional

Encourage students to write a paragraph reflecting on the challenges they faced during the class, concentrating on how they managed their emotions while collaborating in pairs and sharing their sentences. Alternatively, foster an open group discussion where each student can share their experiences and feelings. Ask what strategies were effective for maintaining calm and focus, and where improvements could be made. Promote honesty and empathy, creating a supportive space.

Tujuan: The goal of this section is to foster self-evaluation and emotional regulation among students, helping them identify effective strategies for navigating challenging situations. By reflecting on their experiences, students can acknowledge their emotions and develop self-control and resilience skills applicable to both academic and social contexts.

Pandangan ke Masa Depan

Communicate the importance of setting personal and academic goals related to the lesson’s content. Invite each student to jot down one personal goal and one academic goal they wish to achieve in the coming month. For instance, a personal goal could be 'Improving my public speaking skills', while an academic goal might be 'Using relative pronouns correctly in 90% of my essays.'

Penetapan Tujuan:

1. Recognise and accurately use relative pronouns in written and spoken sentences.

2. Enhance public speaking skills by presenting sentences with confidence.

3. Develop strategies for regulating emotions to manage anxiety during presentations.

4. Improve collaboration and communication skills during group activities.

5. Correctly apply relative pronouns in exercises and assessments. Tujuan: The aim of this section is to strengthen students' autonomy and practical learning application, encouraging them to reflect on their personal and academic goals. By establishing clear objectives, students can track their progress and foster a sense of responsibility for their own learning and emotional growth.
