Read the following excerpt from a chronicle, written by Luis Fernando Verissimo: 'What intrigues me the most about the life of insects is its brevity. Their ephemerality is almost offensive. They are born, go through their brief spring, and disappear, leaving nothing to suggest what they were or what they made of life. If they were aware of their brevity, I don't know if they would be happier or unhappier. Does the awareness of death do us good?'. Then answer: 1) How does the author use the theme of the brevity of the life of insects to reflect on human existential questions? 2) Considering the relationship between the literary text and the natural sciences, how could biology contribute to the discussion proposed by the author?
