Natural phenomena can be considered as extremely important events for our planet, as they influence the climate and the life of the species that exist on it. For example, rains are necessary to keep the rivers and lakes full and thus ensure drinking water for all living beings that depend on it to survive. Which of the following is an example of a natural phenomenon that contributes to the balance of the Earth?

Plants are very special living beings! They need water and sunlight to grow, just like we need food and water to live. Think of a little plant you saw or have at home, and tell me: Why are water and sunlight so important for this little plant to grow and look beautiful? Explain how you think the plant uses water and sunlight to make its food and stay alive.

You must have noticed that the materials we use in our daily lives can change when placed in different situations. For example, water can change its form when heated to make tea, or what happens to fruit when left out of the refrigerator for too long. Think of a material you know and explain how it could change if placed in four different situations: (1) exposed to strong sunlight, (2) placed in the freezer, (3) mixed with another material that reacts with it, and (4) cut into very small pieces. Write about the changes this material could undergo and what causes this change, explaining what happens at the particle level of the materials.
