Modern Physics: Photoelectric Effect

Hard

(Originais Teachy 2023) - Question Hard of Physics

A research laboratory is studying the photoelectric effect in a semiconductor material. During an experiment, a sample of the material is illuminated by a beam of monochromatic photons with an energy of 3.0 eV. The work function of the material is 2.5 eV. As part of the study, the researchers want to analyze the dependence of the photoelectric current on the intensity of the incident light. They decide to vary the intensity of the photon beam and observe the generated current. For an intensity of 2.0 W/m², determine: (1) The maximum kinetic energy of the emitted electrons. (2) The generated photoelectric current, considering that the average energy required to release an electron from the material is 2.7 eV. Consider that Planck's constant is 4.135667696e-15 eV*s, the speed of light in a vacuum is 3.0 x 10^8 m/s, and the charge of the electron is 1.602176634e-19 C.
