Modern Physics: Photoelectric Effect

Very Hard

(Originais Teachy 2023) - Question Very Hard of Physics

A monochromatic light beam strikes a metallic sodium plate, whose work function is 2.28 eV. Considering Planck's constant h = 6.63 x 10^-34 J.s and the electron charge e = 1.6 x 10^-19 C, determine: 1) The maximum kinetic energy of the emitted electrons when light strikes the sodium. 2) The maximum velocity of the emitted electrons, assuming they start from rest. Consider that all the photon's energy is converted into the electron's kinetic energy and neglect interactions between the electrons and the material.
