Electricity: Problems of Electric Forces and Fields

Medium

(Originais Teachy 2023) - Question Medium of Physics

Two point charges, one negative of -5µC and the other positive of +3µC, are fixed at points A and B, respectively, at a distance of 20 cm from each other in a vacuum. An electron is placed at a point located 10 cm from the negative charge and on the same line connecting the charges, forming a right triangle with the charges. The electric field created by the positive charge at B is E_B = k*q_B/r_B², where k is the electrostatic constant in vacuum and q_B is the charge of B. Considering that the electric force on an electron is F = k*e*q/r², where e is the charge of the electron, determine: 1) The intensity of the electric force on the electron due to the positive charge at B. 2) The direction and sense of the resultant electric force acting on the electron. Disregard any effects of electric fields created by the negative charge A acting on the electron.

A technician from an electronics company is working on a circuit involving three capacitors in series. The capacitors have capacitances of 6μF, 8μF, and 12μF, respectively. Assuming the potential difference applied to the capacitors is 60V, determine the charge stored in each capacitor and the equivalent capacitance of the series configuration.

A motor operates according to the Carnot cycle between two thermal sources. The hot source is at a temperature of 500 K and the cold source at 300 K. Determine the efficiency of the motor, knowing that the efficiency of the Carnot cycle is calculated by the expression 1 - (Tcold/Thot), where Tcold and Thot are the temperatures of the cold and hot sources, respectively. Discuss briefly the importance of the maximum efficiency of the Carnot cycle in practical applications of thermal engines.

An electric car was developed to be a more sustainable alternative to combustion cars, which use non-renewable resources. This car travels in a straight line, starting from an initial position of 20 meters and reaching a final position of 120 meters. Calculate the position variation (Δx) of this car during the journey.
