Modern Physics: Bohr Model

Hard

(Originais Teachy 2023) - Question Hard of Physics

The hydrogen atom, whose model was described by Niels Bohr, is composed of a nucleus with a proton and an electron orbiting around it. Bohr's model proposes that the electron in a hydrogenic atom (an ion with only one electron) can move only in specific and quantized orbits. Given a hydrogenic atom with atomic number Z, follow the steps below to analyze the atom according to Bohr's model. (a) Write the expression for the electron's energy as a function of the principal quantum number (n) and the atomic number Z. (b) Based on Bohr's equation for quantization of angular momentum, relate the electron's orbit radius to the principal quantum number n and the atomic number Z. (c) Explain the electronic transition between different energy levels and how the emission spectrum of a hydrogenic atom relates to Bohr's quantization rules.
