(Originais Teachy 2024) - Question Hard of Geography

Contemporary urban agglomerations are the stage for complex dynamics that go far beyond simple population growth. Accelerated urbanization is often accompanied by interconnected social, economic, and environmental phenomena. According to the geographer Milton Santos, 'The city, more than an instrument for the production of material wealth, is also a complex system for the production of space and social and cultural relations.' Considering this perspective and the necessary interdisciplinarity for the study of cities, analyze the following excerpt from a modernist poem that reflects on the metamorphosis of the urban landscape: 'Streets that were rivers, of crystal clear water / Today are paths of concrete and routine / The green that remains, survives in between blocks / But the air that is breathed, heavy, intoxicates souls.' Based on the understanding of the urbanization process and its impacts, discuss the physical-environmental and social transformations observed in cities and how these changes reflect on the quality of life of citizens, considering the contribution of different disciplines such as Geography, Ecology, and History.
a.
The physical-environmental and social transformations observed in cities include habitat loss, increased air and water pollution, and decreased biodiversity, negatively affecting the quality of life of citizens. The interdisciplinary approach, integrating Geography, Ecology, and History, allows us to understand the interactions between society and the environment and develop solutions for urban problems.
b.
The urban transformations are not directly related to the quality of life of the inhabitants, being more influenced by the natural geography of the location.
c.
The history of cities shows linearity in the evolution of urban patterns, with no major disruptions in planning models and the relationship with the environment.
d.
The solely geographical approach is sufficient to understand the processes of urbanization and their environmental and social impacts in cities.
e.
Technological development and industrialization of cities have contributed to reducing environmental problems and improving the quality of life of citizens.

NATO, a military alliance created in 1949, has played an important role in combating international terrorism since the attacks of September 11, 2001. It uses cartographic, graphic, and iconographic languages to plan operations, monitor movements, and inform the population. The main forms of violence related to terrorism include suicide attacks, kidnappings, explosive attacks, and cyber attacks, with varied causes such as poverty, social exclusion, religious and political radicalization. NATO proposes mechanisms such as direct military actions, cooperation between intelligence agencies, training of local security forces, and prevention and deradicalization programs. NATO's relations with counterterrorism are relevant in political, social, environmental, economic, and cultural aspects, promoting security, stability, and cooperation among different cultures and religions in the contemporary world.

Eastern Europe is a region marked by a complex intersection of ethnic, cultural, and religious factors that often manifest in territorial disputes and sometimes armed conflicts. Historian Timothy Snyder, in his book 'Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin,' reinforces the idea that 'Eastern Europe is a land of uncertain borders, where changes in international power often meant changes in the identities of those living in these borders.' Based on this perspective, analyze and discuss: 1) How can transformations in political and international power trigger significant changes in the ethnic and cultural dynamics of Eastern Europe and, consequently, conflicts of identity and territory? 2) Evaluate how historical tensions and legacies of totalitarian regimes, such as those of Hitler and Stalin, continue to influence interethnic relations and geopolitical stability in the region.
