Cognates and False Friends

Very Easy

(Originais Teachy 2023) - Question Very Easy of English

Cognate words are words that, due to their common origin, have phonetic and orthographic similarities in two languages, such as 'information' in English and 'informação' in Portuguese. On the other hand, 'false friends' are words that appear to have the same meaning but actually have different meanings, such as 'actual' in English, which does not mean 'atual' in Portuguese, but rather 'real' or 'effective'. Deepening the study of these terms, identify a cognate word and a 'false friend' that exemplify these concepts, and briefly explain the difference between them.
