During the Prehistory, the first human artistic expressions emerged in the context of societies that did not have writing, known as agraphic societies. These manifestations, found in different parts of the world, reflect the daily life, beliefs, and the relationship of man with the environment of that time. For example, cave art is an important record that provides clues about the thinking and social organization of these ancient peoples. It is characterized by figures ranging from simple drawings to complex paintings made in caves and rock shelters, using natural pigments. The analysis of these works allows the observation of changes in techniques and styles over time, as well as revealing fundamental aspects of prehistoric life.

During the Middle Ages, Gothic art flourished as a visual expression of the Christian faith and a reflection of the beliefs and values of the time. Gothic architecture, with its high vaults and stained glass windows, was designed to elevate the observer's spirit to the divine. Considering the importance of religious symbolism in Gothic art, describe how the architectural elements and stained glass windows of Gothic cathedrals served as means of communicating Christian theology to the population at that time. Analyze the role of light, both natural and projected by the stained glass windows, in this context of artistic and religious communication. Relate your analysis to the concept of 'synthesis of the arts' that characterized medieval artistic production, combining architecture, sculpture, and painting for a common and unified purpose.
