Introduction

Duration: 20 to 25 minutes

The purpose of this stage is to contextualize students on the relevance of the topic, awakening their interest and engagement. By starting with a practical warm-up and key questions, students feel more comfortable participating actively in the lesson. This also facilitates the transition to practical activities, making it clear that understanding texts is a skill applicable in various everyday situations.

Warming Up

To start the lesson, explain to students the importance of reading and understanding texts in everyday life. Emphasize that this skill is fundamental not only for academic success but also for daily life and the use of social media. Ask students to use their cell phones to look up an interesting fact about the importance of understanding texts. Then, ask some students to share what they found with the class.

Each proposed activity aims to strengthen critical interpretation and text analysis, encouraging creativity and collaboration among students.

Activity 1 - Digital Detectives 

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Develop critical reading and text interpretation skills, applying verification techniques in the context of social media.

- Description: Students will be divided into groups and act as digital detectives, analyzing social media posts to identify fake news. They will use online tools to verify the veracity of the information, discussing in groups the strategies used and the results found.

- Instructions:

• Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

• Explain that each group will be a team of digital detectives, whose goal is to identify fake news on social media.

• Each group will choose a post, tweet, or news shared on recent social media.

• Students should use information verification tools, such as Google Search, Google Images (reverse search), and fact-checking sites (e.g., E-farsas, Aos Fatos, or Agência Lupa).

• Students will discuss in groups the strategies used to identify the veracity of the information and will conclude the activity by preparing a presentation with their findings.

• Each group will present their conclusions to the rest of the class, explaining the steps they took and the tools used.

Activity 2 - Knowledge Influencers 

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Encourage creativity and critical thinking in text interpretation, using digital tools to enhance learning.

- Description: Each group of students will create a 2-minute video in the style of a digital influencer, explaining the content of a literary or informative text. They must use visual and technological resources to make the explanation clear and engaging.

- Instructions:

• Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

• Each group will choose a previously studied literary or informative text.

• Students must create a script for a 2-minute video, highlighting the main points of the text and a critical analysis.

• Use cell phones to record and edit the videos, encouraging the application of visual and technological techniques (e.g., slides, visual effects, background music).

• The videos should be creative and engaging, as if they were produced by digital influencers.

• After recording, each group will present their video to the class, and classmates may ask questions or make comments.

Activity 3 - Interactive Stories 

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Strengthen the ability to interpret and rewrite texts using digital platforms to create interactive reading experiences.

- Description: Students will use an interactive story creation platform (e.g., Twine, Inklewriter) to rewrite a studied text, transforming it into an interactive narrative where readers can make decisions that affect the story's outcome.

- Instructions:

• Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

• Each group will choose a previously studied text as the basis for the interactive story.

• Explain how the chosen platform (Twine or Inklewriter) works and provide a brief tutorial on how to use it.

• Groups must create a script that transforms the original text into an interactive story, creating different paths and decisions that the reader can make.

• Students should focus on maintaining the coherence and consistency of the narrative, as well as engaging the reader through interesting choices.

• Each group will present the interactive story created, explaining the decisions made and demonstrating some of the multiple possible paths.

Feedback

Duration: 15 to 20 minutes

The purpose of this stage is to promote reflection on learning, encouraging students to share their experiences and critically analyze the results of the activities conducted. Group discussion and 360° feedback help to consolidate the acquired knowledge, as well as develop communication and collaboration skills, which are essential both in school and in everyday life.

Group Discussion

Promote a group discussion with all students, where groups share what they learned by conducting the activity and their conclusions. Use the following script to introduce the discussion:

Ask each group to briefly summarize their activity and the discoveries made. Encourage students to reflect on the challenges faced during the activities and how they overcame them. Open for a free discussion, allowing students to comment and complement their peers' presentations. Discuss the importance of information verification and critical thinking in the context of social media and everyday life.

Reflections
