Tujuan

Durasi: (10 - 15 minutes)

This lesson aims to introduce students to the topic of energy generation, equipping them with an understanding of different types of energy sources and their unique characteristics. Additionally, it seeks to promote the development of essential socio-emotional skills, which are crucial for a well-rounded education, using the RULER method to enhance self-awareness, emotional regulation, responsible decision-making, social skills, and awareness of others.

Tujuan Utama

1. Understand the primary forms of energy generation: thermal, nuclear, wind, and solar.

2. Differentiate between the various forms of energy generation, highlighting the pros and cons of each method.

3. Foster socio-emotional skills using the RULER method.

Pendahuluan

Durasi: (20 - 25 minutes)

Kegiatan Pemanasan Emosional

Guided Meditation for Concentration

The warm-up activity we will use is Guided Meditation. This technique assists students in focusing on the present moment, helping them to relax and mentally prepare for the lesson ahead. It involves leading students through structured meditation instructions to calm their minds and alleviate stress, fostering mental clarity and attention.

1. Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, feet flat on the floor, and hands resting on their knees.

2. Encourage them to close their eyes and start noticing their breathing, inhaling and exhaling deeply.

3. Guide students to inhale through the nose for a count of four, hold for four seconds, and slowly exhale through the mouth for a count of four.

4. Continue guiding their breathing for about two minutes, encouraging a focus on the rhythm of their breath.

5. After two minutes, lead them through a calming visualization, such as picturing a serene beach or a meadow full of flowers.

6. Spend three more minutes on the visualization, prompting students to observe the details of their imagined place: sounds, colours, and scents.

7. Gradually guide students to shift their attention back to the classroom by wiggling their fingers and toes and opening their eyes when they're ready.

8. Conclude by inviting students to share their feelings during the meditation if they wish.

Kontekstualisasi Konten

Energy generation is one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century, directly tied to sustainable development and the well-being of society. Today, we will examine various forms of energy generation: thermal, nuclear, wind, and solar, and explore how each functions, including their pros and cons. Additionally, we will reflect on how our energy consumption habits impact both the environment and society.

To connect this topic to the socio-emotional aspect, think about how the energy we consume daily in our homes, schools, and through our devices stems from these sources. Consider the feelings we experience when faced with power outages, such as frustration or anxiety, and compare that to the sense of security and comfort we gain from a steady energy supply. These reflections will help us appreciate the importance of responsible decision-making and self-control in our everyday energy consumption.

Pengembangan

Durasi: (60 - 75 minutes)

Panduan Teori

Durasi: (25 - 30 minutes)

1. Forms of Energy Generation

2. Thermal: Uses fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) to create heat that heats water, resulting in steam that turns turbines to generate electricity. Advantages: High production capacity; Disadvantages: Pollution and environmental impact.

3. Nuclear: Harnesses the fission of atoms (usually uranium) to create heat and steam that drives turbines. Advantages: Highly efficient, low emissions; Disadvantages: Potential for accidents and radioactive waste management issues.

4. Wind: Utilizes wind turbines to convert wind energy into electricity. Advantages: Renewable and low emissions; Disadvantages: Dependent on weather conditions and can impact visual aesthetics and noise levels.

5. Solar: Employs photovoltaic panels to turn sunlight directly into electricity. Advantages: Renewable, with very low emissions; Disadvantages: Can have high initial costs and also depends on weather conditions.

Kegiatan dengan Umpan Balik Sosioemosional

Durasi: (30 - 35 minutes)

Evaluating the Socio-Environmental Impacts of Energy Generation Types

Students will break into groups, each assigned a different type of energy generation to analyze. They will identify the pros and cons, along with the socio-environmental impacts of their assigned energy type. Afterward, each group will share their findings with the class.

1. Divide the class into four groups, assigning each a type of energy generation: thermal, nuclear, wind, or solar.

2. Provide resources (texts, graphs, images) about each type of energy source to their respective groups.

3. Guide the groups in discussing and documenting the advantages, disadvantages, and socio-environmental consequences of their assigned energy type.

4. Each group should prepare a 5-minute presentation summarizing their findings.

5. After presentations, facilitate a discussion comparing the different energy generation types, along with their pros and cons.

Diskusi dan Umpan Balik Kelompok

After the presentations, lead a discussion using the RULER method to help students reflect on their emotions and perspectives during the activity.

Recognize: Ask students how they felt while researching and presenting on their assigned energy generation type. Understand: Encourage them to share reasons for those feelings, like the complexity of the topic or concerns over environmental effects. Name: Aid students in identifying and naming these emotions. Express: Foster a safe environment for students to share their feelings constructively. Regulate: Guide students in considering strategies to manage negative emotions like frustration or anxiety and appreciate positive feelings such as accomplishment and teamwork.

Kesimpulan

Durasi: (20 - 25 minutes)

Refleksi dan Regulasi Emosional

For emotional reflection and regulation, ask students to write a brief paragraph discussing the challenges they encountered during the lesson and how they dealt with their emotions. Alternatively, organize a group discussion where each student can share their personal experiences. Encourage students to reflect on their feelings while learning about different forms of energy generation and participating in the group activity. Promote an open, safe environment for everyone to express their emotions and learn from one another.

Tujuan: The objective of this activity is to encourage self-reflection and emotional regulation, helping students identify effective strategies for handling challenging situations. By reflecting on their feelings and sharing their experiences, students enhance their self-awareness and self-control, which are key aspects of socio-emotional learning.

Pandangan ke Masa Depan

To wrap up the lesson, encourage students to set personal and academic goals based on what they've learned. Explain that these goals might involve learning more about a particular type of energy generation, researching innovations in renewable energy, or applying their knowledge to make more informed energy consumption choices. Encourage them to document these goals and consider actionable steps to achieve them.

Penetapan Tujuan:

1. Research more about a specific form of energy generation.

2. Explore innovations and new technologies in renewable energy.

3. Adopt more mindful energy consumption habits at home and school.

4. Share their newfound knowledge with family and friends.

5. Get involved in school projects or initiatives related to sustainability and responsible energy use. Tujuan: The aim of this section is to promote students' independence and practical application of their learning. By establishing personal and academic goals, students become more engaged and motivated, fostering ongoing development both academically and personally. This activity also helps reinforce the knowledge they've gained and cultivates a commitment to sustainable practices.
