Kegiatan Pemanasan Emosional
Guided Meditation for Better Focus
For the Emotional Warm-up, we’ll be engaging in Guided Meditation. This involves leading students through a calming meditation exercise that focuses on breathing and visualizing serene images. This practice helps enhance focus, presence, and mental clarity, enabling students to connect more deeply and consciously with their emotions.
1. Encourage students to sit comfortably in their chairs or on the floor, maintaining a straight posture with their feet flat on the ground.
2. Instruct them to close their eyes and rest their hands on their knees or in their laps.
3. Begin by guiding them to focus on their breathing, paying attention to the air flowing in and out of their lungs.
4. Instruct them to take a deep breath in through their noses, counting to four, and then exhale gently through their mouths, also counting to four. Repeat this for a few minutes.
5. Next, have them envision a tranquil and safe space, perhaps a beach or a blooming garden. Describe this place to them, encouraging them to engage their senses (like the sound of the waves, the fragrance of the flowers, etc.).
6. Continue to guide them through the visualization, suggesting that they feel calm and at ease in this imagined space.
7. After about 5-10 minutes, start bringing them back to the present by prompting them to gently wiggle their fingers and toes, and open their eyes when they're ready.

Movement is a vital part of our everyday lives, and dance serves as one of the most potent forms of expression. Through dance, we can share emotions, narrate stories, and connect with each other in distinctive ways. Think about the various cultures worldwide that employ dance to celebrate, mourn, and showcase their identities. By engaging with the art of dance, students not only develop their physical abilities but also learn to recognize and articulate their feelings in a healthy and creative fashion.
Additionally, grasping how movement can mirror and affect emotional states is pivotal for social-emotional growth. By linking body movement with emotional expression, students can enhance their self-awareness and self-regulation, along with their social skills and awareness. Durasi: (30 - 35 minutes)
Expressive Dance Creations
In this activity, students will form small dance segments that embody different emotions. The aim is to investigate how movement can convey feelings, helping them cultivate the ability to recognize and manage their emotions through dance.
1. Split students into groups of three to four.
2. Each group should select an emotion to explore (e.g., joy, sadness, anger, fear, etc.).
3. Encourage groups to discuss and select movements that best represent their chosen emotion.
4. Allocate 10-15 minutes for groups to develop a short choreography (1-2 minutes) that expresses their selected emotion.
5. Once completed, each group will perform their choreography for the class.
6. After each presentation, prompt the rest of the class to identify the emotion being portrayed and discuss how the movements communicated that emotion.
Diskusi dan Umpan Balik Kelompok
Following the presentations, facilitate a group discussion using the RULER approach. Ask students how they felt during the creation and while watching the performances. Inspire them to recognize the emotions they experienced (Recognize). Discuss potential causes of these emotions and how they shaped the chosen movements (Understand).
Encourage students to name the emotions they observed in the performances, discussing how specific movements correspond to particular feelings (Name). Encourage them to express their emotions constructively, highlighting how dance acts as an avenue for non-verbal communication (Express). Lastly, explore ways to regulate these emotions, discussing how engaging in dance can foster self-control and emotional management (Regulate).
