Tujuan

Durasi: (10 - 15 minutes)

This stage is designed to introduce students to the theme of 'Weather and Climate', aligning the material with essential cognitive and socio-emotional skills. It lays a solid foundation for students to not only gain technical knowledge on the subject but also develop competencies like self-awareness and social awareness by understanding the implications of climate on various aspects of life and society.

Tujuan Utama

1. Explore how different weather conditions and atmospheric phenomena are formed.

2. Gain a broader understanding of climate and weather patterns.

Pendahuluan

Durasi: (15 - 20 minutes)

Kegiatan Pemanasan Emosional

Deep Breathing for Focus and Concentration

The Deep Breathing activity is a straightforward and effective technique to help students focus, relax, and prepare emotionally for the class. Through deep, controlled breaths, students learn to manage their emotions and stay present, creating a calmer and more concentrated learning atmosphere.

1. Instruct students to sit comfortably in their chairs with their feet flat on the floor and hands in their laps.

2. Have them close their eyes or soften their gaze on a point in the room.

3. Guide the students to inhale deeply through their nose while slowly counting to four.

4. Ask them to hold their breath briefly, counting to two.

5. Instruct them to exhale smoothly through their mouth, also counting to four.

6. Repeat this deep breathing cycle for about five minutes, encouraging students to focus on their breath and the relaxation of their bodies.

7. After the activity, invite students to slowly open their eyes and take a moment to reflect on how they feel.

Kontekstualisasi Konten

Weather and climate are subjects that have a direct impact on our daily lives and society at large. For example, understanding how climate change affects various regions can empower us to make more responsible choices about caring for our environment. Additionally, recognizing how climate can influence our moods and well-being helps us cultivate greater self-awareness and empathy for others experiencing different climatic conditions.

Pengembangan

Durasi: (60 - 75 minutes)

Panduan Teori

Durasi: (20 - 25 minutes)

1. Weather: Refers to the current atmospheric conditions in a specific location at a specific time. For instance, one might say it’s raining or sunny today. Weather can change quickly and is influenced by several factors like temperature, humidity, wind, and atmospheric pressure.

2. Climate: This is the average weather pattern in a region over a long period, typically 30 years or more. For example, the climate of a tropical rainforest is warm and humid all year round.

3. Difference between Weather and Climate: While weather describes temporary conditions, climate refers to what is expected for a particular region over time. For instance, a cold snap in a usually warm area doesn’t alter that area’s climate.

4. Elements of Weather and Climate: Temperature: Measures the heat in the atmosphere. Humidity: Indicates the amount of water vapor present in the air. Atmospheric Pressure: The force exerted by air on surfaces. Wind: The movement of air from high-pressure to low-pressure areas. Precipitation: Any form of water, whether liquid or solid, that falls from the sky, including rain, snow, and sleet.

5. Factors Influencing Climate: Latitude: Areas close to the equator tend to be warmer. Altitude: Higher elevations generally experience cooler temperatures. Proximity to Water: Coastal regions typically have milder climates. Ocean Currents: These can either warm or cool coastal areas.

6. Climate Change: Refers to long-term changes in temperature and climate patterns, which may be driven by natural events like volcanic eruptions or by human activities such as greenhouse gas emissions.

Kegiatan dengan Umpan Balik Sosioemosional

Durasi: (30 - 35 minutes)

Analysis of Local Weather and Climate

Students will track and record atmospheric conditions over the course of a week and analyze how these conditions relate to the region's climate. They will also reflect on how these conditions influence their emotions and everyday behaviours.

1. Divide the class into small groups.

2. Have each group observe and log the daily weather conditions for a week. They should note temperature, humidity, sky conditions (sunny, cloudy, rainy, etc.), and any other relevant observations.

3. After the week, students should compare their records to the typical climate for the region, discussing how the conditions they observed align with expected climate patterns.

4. Encourage students to reflect on how the weather impacted their emotions and actions. For instance, did a rainy day leave them feeling down or less energetic?

5. Each group should prepare a presentation to share their findings and reflections with the class.

Diskusi dan Umpan Balik Kelompok

Following the presentations, lead a group discussion using the RULER method: Recognize: Ask students how they felt in different weather conditions. For example, 'What emotions did you experience on rainy days?'. Understand: Delve into the reasons behind those emotions. 'Why do you think you felt that way during the rain?'. Name: Help students to accurately identify their emotions. For instance, 'Did you feel sad, tired, or perhaps excited?'. Express: Discuss healthy ways to express emotions. 'What are some good ways to share how we feel?'. Regulate: Talk about strategies to manage emotions, like breathing techniques and activities that can help lift their mood on dreary days.

Kesimpulan

Durasi: (10 - 15 minutes)

Refleksi dan Regulasi Emosional

Prompt students to engage in a group discussion or write individually about the challenges they encountered during the lesson and how they managed their emotions. For example, ask them how they felt while observing the weather and its effect on their daily activities. Encourage them to share the strategies they used to handle those emotions. You could ask questions like: 'What were the most significant challenges during the observation week?' and 'How did you cope with the emotions that arose during this time?'

Tujuan: The aim of this section is to prompt students to self-assess and consider their emotional regulation skills. By identifying and discussing effective coping strategies, students can enhance their self-awareness and socio-emotional skills, applying these strategies in other situations.

Pandangan ke Masa Depan

Encourage students to set personal and academic goals tied to what they've learned in this lesson. They should reflect on how to apply their understanding of weather and climate in their everyday lives and future studies. For instance, a personal goal might be to observe the weather every day to gain insight into climate patterns, whereas an academic goal could be to conduct deeper research on climate change and its local impacts. Invite them to jot down these goals and periodically review their progress.

Penetapan Tujuan:

1. Track daily weather observations for a month.

2. Research climate change and its impacts in the local area.

3. Share insights about climate with family or friends.

4. Keep a journal noting emotional responses to weather changes.

5. Develop a school project around the importance of environmental conservation. Tujuan: The goal of this section is to enhance students' autonomy by motivating them to apply their learning in practical and ongoing ways. By setting personal and academic goals, students foster a sense of responsibility and purpose, encouraging steady growth in both their academic and personal lives.
